The RG3 linkage is fast becoming one of our most popular items as it is designed to remedy the problems of the stock linkage set-up you get with your bike. Your stock links are generally overly progressive which means they cause the shock to feel soft initially, but by mid stroke the increased dampening and spring forces come together to create a “step” in the mid-stroke. This “step” results in a harsh, springy hit or "dead blow" feel that leads to an unpredictable ride. This causes the rear end to bounce around or swap back and forth, giving you a harsh bucking that throws your feet off the pegs during hard acceleration and braking. By calming down the leverage ratio of the overly-progressive stock setup, the RG3 linkage handles commonly found problems in acceleration chop and breaking bumps.
The RG3 link is designed to do:
-Improve the ride on acceleration bumps
-Improve control and handling
-Remove any spike feel that may upset the bike's equilibrium
-Improve traction and feel for the ground
-Improve control on jump landings
The RG3 Linkage is ready to install with all necessary bearings and seals. Uses stock bearings.
Through our research and development the performance advantages and disadvantages of each stock linkage model are established and many linkages are derived. If we can't improve on a stock linkage model we don't develop it. We only make linkages for those models that we feel we can achieve a higher level of suspension performance and these are the linkages we make avaliable to our race teams and to you.
The RG3 link creates a smoother, more exact feel, with no step in the mid stroke and a more confidence inspiring progression. Similar spring rates are usually used with the links. Although shock valving could remain the same from the stock link, further considerable improvements can be guaranteed with a valving update to match the RG3 link.
